Your Body Never Rebels...
This past week I was working with one of my older clients. She just received an update on the condition of a blood clot in one of her legs and shared her amazing news with me.
What she told me made my jaw drop.
Her body had had grown new blood vessels around the area of the blood clot in order to keep her blood flowing!
The human body never ceases to amaze me. It made me pause and reflect; our body is instinctively designed to survive and thrive. It’s never out to get us or to punish us (as much as we may sometimes think).
So many of us complain how our body revolts or refuses to behave but what we fail to remember is that our body is always 100% on our side. Our body doesn’t have some vendetta against us and or some plan to make our life miserable. Our body simply does the best it possibly can to preserve our life and survive.
The incident also made me think of my own health conditions and being diagnosed with osteoporosis at the age of 25. My body didn’t do this as a form of punishment. It was simply being resourceful; I was starving my body and it was forced to recruit the nutrients from my bones in order to keep me alive.
“Pain is weakness leaving the body”
When we make peace with our body and understand that it does everything in it’s power to keep us alive, this over-used quote from above just seems ridiculous. Pain is not weakness; it’s how our body communicates with us. Pain is the way the body lets us know something is not right, to slow down and pay attention.
Once we understand that our body is much wiser (and kinder) than we believe it to be, we stop seeking out the quick fixes and focus on nourishment; we stop beating it into remission and simply take care of it with out the labels or the judgments.
Our body has no concept of numbers or percentages it simply survives. And it thrives when we show it patience, acceptance and may be even love.
