A few days ago I came across this quote and had to share it:
“Your body is not your masterpiece -- your life is.
We are encouraged to obsess over our instrument's SHAPE -- but our body's shape has no effect on it's ability to accept and offer love for us. Just none. Maybe we continue to obsess because as long we keep wringing our hands about our paintbrush shape, we don't have to get to work painting our lives. Stop fretting. The truth is that all paintbrush shapes work just fine -and anybody who tells you different is trying to sell you something. Don't buy. Just paint.”
BOOM! Mind blown! Thank you Mrs. Melton!
Your body is NOT your masterpiece. Helping you to have a body that functions optimally and allows you to better create that masterpiece is my job. As a fitness professional, it is my job to make sure your paintbrush has the ability to paint vibrantly and with ease.
If you are reading this and thinking “but I still want to lose the fat on my tummy, my arm-flab, my muffin-top, ect”, I hear you, but my question to you is, why?
If your goal is to change the shape of your paintbrush because you think you will paint with more confidence, I have news for you, you won’t. The hand that is holding the paintbrush is what makes all the difference NOT the paintbrush itself.
If you want to change your paintbrush because you think your masterpiece will turn out better, you it will get noticed and it will be more respected then ask I you; how many times have you heard someone ask what type of paintbrush Leonardo De Vinci used to paint the Mona Lisa?
SO – WHY? What real fears or challenges are you avoiding because it is easier to focus on the shape of the paintbrush?
Exercise and maintaining your “paintbrush” is a single piece of the wellness puzzle. It is not more important than any other piece. When it comes down to making your life a masterpiece, there are a variety of areas that must be addressed. The paintbrush is only one of them.
